Polygon PoS Experiences Transaction Finality Delay, Patch Underway
10/9/2025

Polygon’s proof-of-stake (PoS) network is facing delays in transaction finality, with confirmations running 10–15 minutes behind schedule, though block production continues normally.

Finality refers to the point at which a transaction or data is irreversible once added to a blockchain. The slowdown has been traced to a bug affecting Bor/Erigon nodes and certain RPC providers, forcing some validators to resync from the last finalized block. Node restarts resolved the issue for many validators, while others required a full resync.

The Polygon Foundation confirmed on X that a fix has been identified and is being rolled out to validators and service providers.

The incident follows weeks after Polygon’s Heimdall v2 upgrade, which promised 5-second finality through a modernized consensus stack.

POL, the network’s native token, slipped roughly 3% in early U.S. trading, down to about $0.26, as the network addressed the disruption.
