Strategy Boosts Dollar Reserves While Keeping Bitcoin Holdings Flat

Strategy raised $333.7 million last week by selling 3.46 million shares of its common stock, according to a filing released Monday.

The Bitcoin treasury firm, led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, did not add to or reduce its Bitcoin holdings during the week ending Aug. 16. Its reserve remained at 840,447 BTC, acquired for a total of $63.36 billion at an average cost of $75,385 per Bitcoin, including fees and expenses.

The company used $132.2 million of the proceeds to buy back 1,388,720 shares of its variable-rate preferred stock, STRC. It allocated an additional $52.4 million to STRC dividend payments and directed roughly $150 million into its U.S. dollar reserve.

Strategy’s dollar holdings rose to about $4.80 billion as of Aug. 16, giving the company 2.8 years of dollar liquidity. The reserve is designed to help cover dividends on preferred shares as well as interest expenses on outstanding debt.

After the latest transactions, Strategy has approximately $653 million remaining under its preferred-stock repurchase program and $1 billion available for MSTR common-stock buybacks.

MSTR shares gained 1.3% in premarket trading, while Bitcoin advanced more than 1% over the previous 24 hours to trade near $63,500.
