Crypto Boom Revives Dog and Cat Coins as Smaller Memecoins Post 100% Gains

The latest crypto upswing is spreading into the market’s most speculative segments, with dog- and cat-themed memecoins recording sharp gains as traders become increasingly willing to take on risk.

Cash Cat, a token operating on Robinhood’s blockchain, jumped roughly 51% in 24 hours Tuesday to $0.218. The token has climbed more than 113% over the past week and about 345% over 30 days, pushing its market capitalization to approximately $215 million.

Several other cat-themed tokens have also posted significant gains. Thinking Cat rose 131% over seven days, Purr advanced 93%, Popcat gained 54%, and MEW, or cat in a dogs world, increased 49%.

Dog-themed memecoins have seen similar momentum. Dog (Bitcoin) has nearly doubled over the past week, while dogwifhat gained 64%, Bonk rose 47% and Floki added 40%.

The largest memecoins are also benefiting from the broader market move, although their gains are less dramatic. Dogecoin has risen about 32% over the past seven days, while Shiba Inu has advanced around 30%.

Smaller Tokens Attract Fresh Speculation

Memecoins are typically powered by online communities, internet trends and speculation rather than traditional revenue or business models. That makes them particularly sensitive to changes in investor risk appetite and a useful gauge of speculative activity.

The latest moves indicate that the rally in larger cryptocurrencies is beginning to reach lower-cap tokens. Because these assets generally have thinner markets, relatively small changes in buying or selling can produce significant price swings.

Cash Cat illustrates the trend. The token recorded approximately $80 million in 24-hour trading volume against a market capitalization of about $215 million, representing unusually heavy turnover for an asset of its size.

Thin liquidity can amplify losses as well as gains, however. Smaller memecoins may rise rapidly when buyers flood the market, but they can also experience steep declines when investors rush to sell.

Crypto Sentiment Moves Deeper Into Greed

Investor sentiment has strengthened alongside the memecoin surge. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index has climbed to approximately 75, its highest reading since early October 2025, from around 30 just one week earlier.

The indicator previously entered the 70s shortly before the Oct. 10 deleveraging event that triggered a major crypto sell-off. However, the index measures current market sentiment and does not necessarily predict another sharp correction.
