Bitcoin’s Coinbase Premium has entered positive territory again, marking its first such reading since May and signaling a possible increase in U.S. demand as BTC continues to challenge the $80,000 level.
The reversal means Bitcoin is currently trading at a higher price on Coinbase than on Binance, indicating stronger relative buying activity on the U.S.-based exchange.
CoinGlass data shows the indicator moved above zero Friday after spending months in negative territory. The Coinbase Premium measures the difference between Bitcoin’s price on Coinbase and Binance and is widely used to assess buying pressure from U.S. investors.
The change comes after Bitcoin’s sharp recovery from around $63,000 to above $80,000. The rally has also coincided with renewed inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, several of which use Coinbase for custody.
SoSoValue data shows the ETFs have attracted roughly $3.51 billion in net inflows, their strongest total since October 2025. BlackRock’s IBIT has been one of the key funds contributing to the renewed demand.
The indicator has historically been useful for tracking Bitcoin’s demand cycle. When Coinbase maintains a sustained premium over Binance, it generally points to stronger interest from U.S. buyers and has frequently accompanied periods of Bitcoin market strength.
However, the latest move above zero is only an initial signal. The premium will need to remain positive and potentially widen before it can be viewed as confirmation of sustained U.S. demand.
Bitcoin is meanwhile approaching a significant technical resistance level near $81,000, where the 50-week simple moving average currently sits. A convincing break above that barrier could strengthen the bullish structure and support a move toward higher levels.
Failure to clear the $81,000 resistance could instead result in another pullback and keep BTC confined to its recent trading range, despite the improving Coinbase demand signal.
