Bitcoin recovered sharply after briefly slipping below $80,000, rebounding to nearly $82,500 within two hours as buyers returned to the market. South Korean chipmakers also staged a recovery following their steepest closing decline since April.
The leading cryptocurrency climbed 1.3% to almost $82,000 during Friday’s Asian trading hours, recovering from Thursday’s short-lived break below the $80,000 threshold. The rebound coincided with a recovery in Asian technology shares after the previous session’s sell-off.
Zcash (ZEC) delivered the strongest gains among major cryptocurrencies, rising 8% to approximately $1,190. Solana, Ether, XRP and Tron advanced by around 1% each, while BNB showed little movement, according to CoinDesk data.
Bitcoin remained below $80,000 for approximately two hours. During Thursday’s downturn, BTC touched roughly $79,800, falling beneath the $80,400 support level that buyers had defended twice during the previous week. Demand reappeared near the lows, lifting the price back toward $82,500 within two hours. Bitcoin subsequently maintained a level above $81,000 throughout the Asian session.
Asian equity markets followed a similar recovery pattern as investors returned to shares after Thursday’s losses. MSCI’s Asia-Pacific equity index gained 1.3%, with roughly three advancing stocks for every decliner. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix each rose more than 2%, while South Korea’s Kospi advanced nearly 3% after Thursday’s close marked its lowest level since April.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company moved against the broader trend, with its shares declining despite the company’s positive outlook. Concerns about the scale of investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure continued to weigh on investor confidence.
Government bonds also surrendered some of the gains recorded during Thursday’s flight to safety. U.S. Treasury prices fell across maturities, lifting the 10-year Treasury yield by one basis point to 5.07%.
Market attention has now shifted to Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, who is scheduled to speak at the IMF and World Bank meetings in Bangkok on Friday. His remarks come two days after September’s inflation figures exceeded expectations, adding uncertainty to the outlook for U.S. monetary policy.
Bitcoin’s next key resistance level is $84,000, where Wednesday’s rally following the inflation report lost momentum. A sustained move above that threshold would provide a stronger indication that buyers are supporting the recovery and that the upward momentum may continue.
