Hidden Road by Ripple Launches Over-the-Counter Crypto Brokerage Stateside

Ripple-Backed Hidden Road Debuts Crypto OTC Swap Brokerage for U.S. Institutions

Hidden Road, recently acquired by Ripple in a $1.25 billion deal, has launched a new prime brokerage service tailored for U.S. institutional investors, providing access to cash-settled over-the-counter (OTC) cryptocurrency swaps.

This expansion allows institutional clients in the United States to trade OTC swaps across multiple digital tokens through Hidden Road’s FCA-regulated UK entity, Hidden Road Partners CIV UK Ltd. The platform also introduces cross-margining and digital asset financing to enhance trading efficiency.

Michael Higgins, International CEO and Global Head of Corporate Development at Hidden Road, emphasized the significance of the launch: “U.S. institutions have historically been underserved in terms of product offerings within the digital asset space. By enabling OTC swaps, which constitute a major portion of global digital asset trading, we’re opening new avenues for institutional participation.”

OTC swaps enable large-volume trades to be executed privately, minimizing price impact and volatility that can occur in public markets.

With Ripple’s acquisition of Hidden Road, the company aims to establish itself as a premier global non-bank prime broker, expanding the reach and capabilities of the platform in the rapidly evolving crypto market.
