Bitcoin Dips Below $109K as Conference Signal Triggers Another Sell-Off

Negative price patterns around Bitcoin conferences are well-documented, and this week’s Bitcoin Asia event in Hong Kong appears to have followed the trend.

Historically, Bitcoin Magazine’s U.S. Bitcoin Conference has coincided with weak BTC performance during and shortly after the event. In 2025, the Las Vegas gathering in late May and early June saw similar struggles, with Bitcoin hovering below key levels. Analysts attribute this to pre-event hype, where organizers and speakers emphasize “massive announcements,” generating media attention and ticket sales.

This week’s Hong Kong conference featured speakers including Eric Trump, CZ, Adam Back, Balaji Srinivasan, and David Bailey, covering familiar themes such as “freedom money,” institutional adoption, and Bitcoin to the moon.”

The price action reflected skepticism: Bitcoin fell from around $115,000 at the start of the conference to approximately $108,400. A notable 4% drop occurred overnight in U.S. trading (Friday in Hong Kong) as Eric Trump and David Bailey spoke on “Bitcoin Takes Over the World.”
