Cardano Logs 500,000 Supply-Chain Records for Verifiable Proof

The Cardano Foundation has partnered with Brazilian technology firm Blockforce to bring blockchain-based supply-chain verification into production, with Cardano serving as the public layer for validating records.

Blockforce’s platform is already being used by major fashion companies in Brazil and has anchored more than 500,000 supply-chain records on Cardano.

The solution is built around a common challenge in regulated supply chains: businesses need to prove that records are authentic without revealing confidential commercial information. Storing everything privately protects sensitive data but makes independent verification harder. Publishing the complete records on a public blockchain would solve the verification problem but could expose supplier details, prices and contract terms.

Blockforce addresses the issue by keeping the actual supply-chain information on a permissioned network. Only approved participants can access the detailed records, while cryptographic proofs are written to Cardano’s public blockchain. Auditors, regulators and customers can then check whether a record is genuine and unchanged without accessing the underlying commercial data.

92% Reduction in Anchoring Costs

The cost of publishing large volumes of records on a public blockchain has been a significant barrier to enterprise adoption. Recording hundreds of thousands of individual supply-chain events can become impractical once a project expands beyond a small pilot.

The Cardano Foundation and Blockforce said their joint engineering work reduced the cost of anchoring each record by 92%. The companies say the improvement allowed the solution to progress from a proof-of-concept to a production deployment capable of handling real enterprise volumes.

More than 500,000 records have already been anchored through the system.

Blockforce’s supporting technical documentation identifies Hyperledger Fabric as the permissioned infrastructure used to manage the detailed supply-chain data, alongside additional storage components.

The Cardano Foundation’s case study provides a deeper look at the architecture, including the uVerify component and the batching approach used to combine certificates into Cardano transactions.

Guilherme Pereira, Ecosystem Growth Specialist for LATAM at the Cardano Foundation, characterized the milestone as an infrastructure development rather than simply a new blockchain application. The system is intended to provide public proof of supply-chain records while maintaining the confidentiality businesses require.
