Ripple Collaborates With Chipper Cash to Accelerate Digital Payments in Africa With XRP

Ripple and Chipper Cash Join Forces to Advance Cross-Border Payments in Africa

Chipper Cash, a prominent African payments provider with a customer base of five million across nine countries, has partnered with Ripple to enhance international money transfers into the continent using blockchain technology.

Through this collaboration, Chipper Cash will integrate Ripple Payments, a system powered by XRP, to enable quicker and more cost-effective cross-border transactions compared to traditional banking networks. The initiative aims to simplify global remittances, ensuring users have 24/7 access to fast and affordable transfers.

“Our partnership with Chipper Cash represents a major step forward in Ripple’s expansion across Africa,” said Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa. “As blockchain adoption grows, we are excited to bring our crypto-enabled payment solutions to businesses and individuals throughout the region.”

This development further solidifies Ripple’s growing presence in Africa, following its 2023 partnership with Onafriq, a payments network connecting various African markets.

Despite the announcement, XRP has seen a 4.5% decline in the past 24 hours, reflecting a wider market downturn.
