With 1,088 New Bitcoin Acquired, Metaplanet’s BTC Reserves Exceed $930M

Metaplanet Adds 1,088 Bitcoin, Taking Total Holdings Beyond 8,888 BTC Worth Over $930 Million

Metaplanet, a prominent Japanese firm, revealed on Monday that it has acquired 1,088 more bitcoins (BTC), pushing its total stash to over 8,888 BTC, with a current valuation exceeding $930 million.

The latest purchase amounted to approximately 16.885 billion Japanese yen ($117.5 million), with an average cost per bitcoin of about 15.5 million yen ($108,051), according to the company’s disclosure.

Since formally adopting its Bitcoin treasury policy in April 2024, Metaplanet has aggressively expanded its bitcoin holdings, becoming the largest corporate bitcoin owner in Asia and securing a spot among the world’s top ten BTC holders.

The company has accumulated 7,126 BTC in 2025 alone and aims to reach a total of 10,000 BTC by year-end. This recent acquisition follows Metaplanet’s issuance of $50 million in zero-interest bonds last week, which bolstered its capital for bitcoin purchases without affecting shareholder equity.

Metaplanet’s BTC yield for the year so far stands at 66.3%, with gains of 2,684 BTC—equivalent to about 40.5 billion yen.

During Monday’s Asian trading session, Bitcoin remained steady above $105,000, showing minimal change over the previous 24 hours.
