Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Reserves With 150 BTC Purchase Following Adviser Appointment

Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings, Posts 68% BTC Yield in 2025

Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet has bolstered its Bitcoin reserves with the acquisition of an additional 150 BTC, bringing its total holdings to 3,350 BTC—now worth approximately $291 million at prevailing market prices.

The latest Bitcoin purchase coincides with the firm’s recent high-profile appointment of Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, to its newly established strategic advisory board. His involvement is expected to enhance Metaplanet’s visibility and influence within both financial and political circles.

Metaplanet tracks its Bitcoin accumulation using BTC Yield, a key performance indicator measuring Bitcoin growth relative to the company’s outstanding shares. After reporting a BTC Yield of 41.7% in Q3 2024, the figure skyrocketed to 309.8% in Q4 due to aggressive accumulation efforts. In 2025, the firm has already achieved a BTC Yield of 68.3% as of March 24, underscoring its ongoing Bitcoin-centric strategy.

Metaplanet’s stock continues to attract strong investor interest. According to Dylan LeClair, the firm’s Head of Bitcoin Strategy, Metaplanet became Japan’s 13th most liquid stock by daily trading volume, surpassing household names like Toyota and Nintendo. The company’s shares closed 7% higher, finishing above 5,000 yen.
