Metaplanet Buys 2,205 More BTC, Boosting Holdings to Over 15,500 as Treasury Strategy Expands

Japan-based Metaplanet has expanded its Bitcoin reserves with the purchase of an additional 2,205 BTC, reinforcing its aggressive Bitcoin Treasury strategy. The company’s total holdings now stand at 15,555 BTC, according to a disclosure released on Monday.

The latest acquisition was made at an average price of 15.64 million yen per bitcoin, amounting to roughly 34.49 billion yen ($213 million). This brings Metaplanet’s cumulative Bitcoin investment to 225.82 billion yen ($1.38 billion), with the company’s overall average purchase price sitting at 14.52 million yen per BTC.

As part of its financial reporting, Metaplanet uses a proprietary metric called BTC Yield, designed to measure the value delivered to shareholders while accounting for potential dilution.

For the quarter ending June 30, the firm posted a BTC Yield of 95.6%, following a remarkably high 309.8% in the prior quarter. BTC Yield represents the percentage change in bitcoin holdings per fully diluted share, highlighting how effectively the company’s treasury management boosts shareholder value.

In addition to BTC Yield, Metaplanet monitors two related metrics: BTC Gain and BTC Yen Gain, which convert this yield into hypothetical increases in bitcoin quantity and yen-denominated performance. These figures aim to give investors deeper insights into how the company’s strategic moves translate into tangible financial outcomes.
