Bitcoin Gains Favor as Japan-Listed Firm Sells Altcoin Holdings

Remixpoint has reduced its crypto exposure to Bitcoin after selling four altcoins, with ether, Solana and XRP generating profits while Dogecoin was the only asset sold below its fiscal-year opening value.

The Japan-listed firm said Wednesday that it disposed of 2.8 million DOGE on Sept. 1 for around $234,000. The sale price was approximately $21,000 below the position’s book value at the beginning of the current fiscal year.

The remaining altcoin sales were profitable. Remixpoint earned about $379,000 from its ether sale, $311,000 from Solana and roughly $72,000 from XRP. Overall, the four transactions generated a combined gain of approximately $742,000 after factoring in the DOGE loss.

Remixpoint’s reported Dogecoin loss is based on the asset’s fiscal-year opening book value rather than its original acquisition price. The company sold all four altcoins on Sept. 1.

The DOGE sale is noteworthy because the token has a well-established presence in Japan. Registered domestic crypto exchanges have offered Dogecoin trading since 2022. This year, the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association, Japan’s recognized crypto industry self-regulatory body, also began publishing an official DOGE/JPY reference price alongside Bitcoin, ether, XRP and Solana.

Remixpoint said its decision followed an evaluation of market conditions and the risk-return profiles of the four cryptocurrencies. The company now intends to focus its crypto portfolio exclusively on Bitcoin.

It holds roughly 1,506 BTC, worth more than $115 million at Thursday’s prices. With the altcoin positions now sold, Bitcoin is the company’s sole remaining cryptocurrency holding.
