Citizens Initiates Coverage of SharpLink Gaming With Market Outperform Rating
Citizens has begun coverage of SharpLink Gaming (SBET), assigning a market outperform rating and a $50 price target, implying potential upside of over 200%, according to a report released Wednesday. In early trading, the stock rose roughly 2% to $15.45.
The bank’s bullish outlook is supported by a positive long-term view on Ethereum (ETH), forecasting the token above $7,000 by 2026 and potentially surpassing $20,000 by 2030. Analysts argue that SharpLink has quickly become one of the most ambitious ETH treasury operators in the public markets, having amassed a significant ETH position and begun deploying it into staking and other yield-generating strategies to compound value over time.
SharpLink’s Active ETH Strategy
Unlike passive crypto holdings, SharpLink actively manages its ETH balance sheet. The company issues equity at a premium to NAV, buys back shares when trading below NAV, and leverages its ETH reserves to capture on-chain yield opportunities, Citizens analysts led by Devin Ryan noted.
The bank describes this as a “flywheel” strategy, designed to drive NAV per share higher as Ethereum adoption grows and institutional participation accelerates. Citizens also assigns a premium valuation based on SharpLink’s leadership team, including Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin as Chairman and former BlackRock executive Joseph Chalom as Co-CEO, highlighting their combined crypto and institutional expertise.
Market Positioning and Capital Raise
Citizens believes SharpLink is positioned to become a market leader as ETH matures into a global financial asset. By combining on-chain operational leverage with off-chain financial discipline, the stock offers investors an alternative to traditional digital asset investment vehicles, potentially commanding a valuation premium.
SharpLink recently raised $76.5 million in a direct stock offering priced above market, further fueling its growth and treasury strategy.
