Crypto Stocks Rally Alongside Bitcoin as BTC Reclaims $72,000

  • Bitcoin has climbed around 15% since Monday, reclaiming several key technical and on-chain benchmarks as the latest rally gathers strength.
  • BTC approached $72,000 during European trading Thursday, up more than 3.5% over 24 hours and roughly 15% from Monday’s levels.
  • The rally has been fueled by several developments, starting with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s announcement that the US Treasury would increase its debt buyback operations. Momentum strengthened further after President Donald Trump urged Congress to advance the Clarity Act at a White House event focused on the crypto industry.
  • Crypto-linked stocks have mirrored Bitcoin’s gains. Strategy (MSTR), the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, rose 13% Wednesday and was up another 10% in premarket trading Thursday.
  • Bullish (BLSH), the crypto exchange group and parent of CoinDesk, gained more than 9% Wednesday and added another 5% before the US session.
  • Bitcoin miner MARA Holdings (MARA) and crypto exchange Coinbase (COIN) were also higher in premarket trading after strong advances during Wednesday’s session.

Bitcoin Reclaims Important Technical Thresholds

  • Bitcoin’s break above $71,000 has brought the asset back above several significant technical and on-chain levels, according to Checkonchain data.
  • The short-term holder cost basis stands near $67,138, representing the average price paid for Bitcoin held for less than 155 days.
  • Trading above that level suggests recent Bitcoin buyers are collectively sitting on unrealized gains, potentially strengthening sentiment and supporting greater risk appetite.
  • BTC has also moved above its 200-day simple moving average, which sits around $68,969. The indicator tracks Bitcoin’s average closing price over the previous 200 days and is widely used to assess the asset’s longer-term trend.
  • The next major level on the radar is the True Market Mean at approximately $75,689. This measure removes lost and long-dormant coins to estimate the cost basis of active Bitcoin holders.
  • Holding above the True Market Mean would place the average active investor in unrealized profit and could offer additional confirmation of a broader shift toward bullish market conditions.
