Ethereum Foundation Loses Key Executive as Hsiao-Wei Wang Announces Resignation

Hsiao-Wei Wang has stepped down from her position as co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), becoming the latest senior leader to depart the organization amid a period of significant leadership turnover.

Announcing her resignation in a post on X on Thursday, Wang said the decision was effective immediately. She noted that a recent sabbatical gave her the opportunity to evaluate her priorities and consider the next chapter of her professional journey.

The move follows the planned departure of co-executive director Tomasz Stańczak, who earlier this year said he would leave the Ethereum Foundation after helping guide a leadership transition at the Swiss nonprofit that supports Ethereum’s development.

While Wang was away, board member Bastian Aue played a key role in overseeing the transition process. With both co-executive directors now gone, Aue has assumed expanded responsibilities within the organization.

Wang’s resignation is the latest in a series of high-profile exits at the Ethereum Foundation. Over the past several months, at least eight senior members have left the organization, prompting increased scrutiny from the Ethereum community over the foundation’s governance, priorities, and long-term strategy as rival blockchain networks continue to gain ground.

In her farewell message, Wang underscored Ethereum’s community-driven nature, saying the network’s strength lies in the collective efforts of its contributors rather than any single individual or institution.
