MARA’s $81.1M Bitcoin Transfer Signals Shift Toward Artificial Intelligence

MARA Holdings has transferred nearly 996 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $81.13 million, to a wallet identified as being linked to Galaxy Digital, according to transaction data monitored by Lookonchain.

The movement of funds does not confirm a sale, and there is no evidence from the transfer alone that Galaxy Digital sold the Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin mining firm has been broadening its operations to include artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, moving beyond its traditional mining business. To support this transition and strengthen its balance sheet, MARA has begun selling portions of its Bitcoin reserves.

In March, the company sold 15,133 BTC for roughly $1.1 billion, with the majority of the proceeds going toward repurchasing convertible debt.

According to historical holdings data from Bitcoin Treasuries, MARA held 53,822 BTC on February 26. Its reserves subsequently fell to 35,577 BTC by August 7, marking a significant decline in its Bitcoin holdings.

The latest transfer comes as the company continues to reshape its business around AI and high-performance computing while managing its Bitcoin treasury.

MARA shares advanced 2% in premarket trading on Friday, reaching around $10. Bitcoin also recovered above $82,000 during the previous 24 hours.
