Metaplanet Crosses 5,000 BTC Threshold in Line With Strategic Treasury Growth

Metaplanet Reaches 5,000 BTC Milestone as It Expands Treasury Holdings and Bitcoin Strategy

Metaplanet, the well-known Japanese hotel group, has achieved a major milestone, surpassing 5,000 BTC in its treasury. This marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing strategy to integrate digital assets into its financial framework.

Currently, Metaplanet’s bitcoin holdings are valued at approximately $428 million, with an average purchase price of $85,621 per BTC. The company has also expanded its holdings with a recent acquisition of 145 BTC, priced at around $93,327 per coin, bringing the total investment to about $13.6 million.

This move has helped Metaplanet achieve a strong year-to-date (YTD) BTC yield of 121.1% for 2025, underscoring the company’s effective treasury management. The yield, which tracks the increase in bitcoin per share, reflects Metaplanet’s success in leveraging bitcoin for long-term growth.

The company uses a proprietary metric, BTC Yield, to assess its performance without the impact of new share issuance. In Q1 2025, Metaplanet recorded a solid 95.6% yield, further confirming the effectiveness of its approach.

While shares of Metaplanet have faced some volatility, trading 5% lower at the time of writing, the company remains committed to its innovative treasury strategy, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving intersection of hospitality and digital asset management.
