Semler Scientific Adds $50M in Bitcoin to Treasury Amid Growing Institutional Demand

Semler Scientific (SMLR) has deepened its bitcoin strategy with the purchase of 455 BTC for $50 million, making it the company’s third-largest crypto acquisition since adopting a bitcoin standard nearly a year ago.

The bitcoin was acquired between May 12 and May 22 at an average price of $109,801, funded via proceeds from Semler’s at-the-market (ATM) equity offering launched in April. To date, the company has raised $114.8 million through the issuance of 3 million shares under the $500 million program.

This latest buy brings Semler’s total bitcoin holdings to 4,264 BTC, acquired at a cumulative cost of $390 million, now valued at over $450 million.

The firm’s BTC Yield — a measure of bitcoin per diluted share — has climbed to 25.8% in 2025, positioning it as one of the most aggressive corporate adopters of BTC as a treasury asset.

However, shares of SMLR were down 5.3% in premarket trading Friday, tracking bitcoin’s drop to $108,300, as broader risk sentiment turned cautious following fresh tariff threats from Washington.
