Andrew Kang is leaving his position as Strategy’s chief financial officer, with the departure scheduled for Nov. 5. The announcement arrives as the company reports approximately $21 billion in quarterly operating income and continues expanding its bitcoin treasury to 848,517 BTC.
Strategy (MSTR), the world’s largest publicly traded corporate bitcoin holder, confirmed Kang’s resignation in a Thursday filing.
Kang informed the company on Oct. 26 that he planned to leave for personal reasons. Strategy stressed that the decision was “not the result of any disagreement” involving its operations, policies or business practices.
Although his CFO tenure ends Nov. 5, Kang will remain with the company in an advisory capacity through Dec. 31 to assist with the transition.
Reza Virasteh, who currently serves as executive vice president of operations, will take over the role beginning Jan. 1. He will work as co-principal financial officer alongside President and CEO Phong Le, who will lead the finance organization during the transition period.
Strategy is also restructuring how financial responsibilities are managed. Le will oversee bitcoin strategy, capital markets, treasury and investor relations, while Virasteh will focus mainly on financial operations and budgeting for the company’s software business.
The announcement came as Strategy reported around $21 billion in third-quarter operating income. The company also disclosed that it had raised $21 billion in capital so far this year.
Its bitcoin reserves stood at 848,517 BTC on Oct. 25, an increase of 26% compared with the beginning of 2026.
Strategy shares nevertheless came under pressure in early trading. MSTR declined 6.4% in Friday’s premarket session, while bitcoin fell 3.3% over 24 hours. The company’s STRC preferred stock remained unchanged at $99.45.
