AgriFORCE Unveils Gas-Fueled Bitcoin Mining Facility in Alberta, Targets 1 EH/s Scale-Up

AgriFORCE Taps Alberta’s Stranded Gas for Bitcoin Mining, Eyes 1 EH/s Expansion

AgriFORCE Growing Systems (AGRI), a firm originally focused on agricultural technology, has taken another step into the digital infrastructure space with the launch of its first bitcoin mining and compute facility in Berwyn, Alberta.

The new site, built in collaboration with BlueFlare Energy, leverages stranded natural gas to power 120 mining machines, transforming otherwise wasted resources into productive compute power. The facility consumes 425 kW and currently delivers more than 32 petahashes per second (PH/s) of bitcoin mining capacity. A planned second phase will add an additional 200 kW of power, further boosting output.

BlueFlare’s proprietary operating system and carbon tracking technologies monitor emissions and provide real-time telemetry, underscoring the project’s focus on sustainable energy practices.

Using flared gas for bitcoin mining has become an increasingly popular strategy in the crypto industry as companies seek to monetize energy that would otherwise be wasted during oil and gas production. This approach also helps mitigate some of the profit pressures currently squeezing mining margins.

AgriFORCE’s Alberta deployment is part of a broader three-pronged plan: bitcoin mining, developing modular compute infrastructure, and monetizing energy resources directly. The strategy received fresh momentum with a binding agreement between AgriFORCE and BlueFlare to expand operations to two more Alberta locations—in Oyen and Hinton. Altogether, these future sites could add 1.3 megawatts (MW) of natural-gas-powered compute capacity, potentially supporting applications beyond bitcoin mining, including AI model inference and edge computing for industrial systems.

Unlike traditional mining operations reliant on the power grid, AgriFORCE’s model taps off-grid energy sources, allowing for rapid deployment while reducing infrastructure bottlenecks. So far, the company reports having mined seven BTC across its sites in Alberta and Ohio and plans to retain up to half of its bitcoin holdings, reinvesting the remainder into further operational growth.

Looking ahead, AgriFORCE aims to scale its total compute capacity to 1 exahash per second (EH/s) by the first quarter of 2026, positioning itself at the intersection of energy markets and decentralized computing infrastructure.
