Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings to 2,235 BTC, Edges Higher Among Public BTC Holders

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet (3350) has acquired an additional 135 BTC for 1.94 billion yen ($13 million), bringing its total Bitcoin reserves to 2,235 BTC. This latest accumulation cements its position as one of the top 15 publicly traded companies with the largest Bitcoin holdings.

The firm purchased its most recent batch of BTC at an average price of 14,360,449 yen per coin, while its overall average acquisition cost now stands at 12,441,856 yen ($81,195 per BTC). With Bitcoin currently trading around $89,000, Metaplanet’s holdings have yielded a 23.2% return so far this year.

Despite the gains in its Bitcoin portfolio, Metaplanet’s stock price dipped 3% to 6,010 yen, though it remains less than 20% below its all-time high.

Dylan Le Clair, the company’s director of Bitcoin strategy, noted that Metaplanet has raised $47 million in equity over the first four trading days of its “21m Plan,” with 5.54% of the initiative already completed.
