X Partners With Coinbase, Kraken and IBKR to Enable Crypto, Stock Trading

X has launched a new trading feature in the U.S. that allows users to move directly from discussions about financial assets to partner trading platforms.

The feature lets users tap cashtags such as $BTC or $TSLA to view live prices, charts and related posts. Users can then select the “Trade” button, which sends them to platforms including Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase to log in, register and complete their orders.

X does not execute or clear the transactions. Instead, it serves as a gateway to the participating brokers and exchanges, with the actual buying and selling handled by those services.

Cashtags have been available on X for years and have traditionally helped users follow conversations around stocks and other financial markets. Earlier this year, the company added live prices and charts to the feature.

The trading links represent another development in Elon Musk’s plans to expand X into a broader financial-services platform.

“Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself,” said Mridul Singhai, X’s product engineering lead.

The initiative leverages X’s substantial worldwide user base. The platform has millions of users globally, with daily engagement estimated at about 132 million on mobile devices and more than 245 million users across all devices.

X has also developed a significant role in the crypto community, where posts from prominent traders and industry figures can spread quickly and influence market sentiment and liquidity across exchanges.

Its role as a virtual “town square” differentiates it from platforms such as Discord and Telegram, where conversations are typically divided among private groups and channels.

By placing a direct “Trade” option alongside cashtags, X is reducing the distance between financial discussions on its platform and the marketplaces where users can execute trades.
